Frankfurt is one of the biggest and most important cities in Germany and thanks to its growing prominence as a global business centre it is attracting a lot of new residents. Here are just a few of the city’s neighbourhoods to consider when you are looking for an apartment in Frankfurt.
The centre of Frankfurt is known as Innenstadt and it is one of the most commercial districts of the city. Many banks and other financial institutions have a base here. However, it is also home to the best shops and designer stores, great cafes and restaurants and many tourist attractions. This means that property prices even if renting are very high.
Westend is considered to be one of the wealthier districts of the city and many of the city’s financial workers live here. It is also one of the quieter districts in the city, with plenty of parks and large, luxury residential properties.
For a district that has plenty of residents, head to Sachsenhausen. This is where you will find almost all of the city’s museums and galleries, as well as plenty of bars. Despite the popularity, the cost of renting or buying an apartment here is relatively low.
Ex-pats tend to settle in the Bornheim district of Frankfurt. There are large apartment complexes here and with plenty of bars and restaurants. The district is connected to other parts of the city with a good public transport system. This is a quiet area but you can still have a good night out here.
If your budget for an apartment is small then consider Bockenheim. There are plenty of small and cheap apartments here and even though the district is on the edge of the inner ring of the city, you can get to the city centre in no time.
